The carbohydrate loading diet may result in increased levels of blood cholesterol and urea nitrogen levels. This may cause serious problems for individuals predisposed to diabetes, kidney disease, or heart disease.
Vitamin and mineral depletion may result during the seven day period of this diet.
Continuous dependence on the carbohydrate loading diet may result in ketoacidosis, a potentially life threatening condition where blood becomes acidic as the body enters into starvation mode in order to satisfy its glucose requirements.
