To prevent personal injury when a seizure is occurring, make sure that your surroundings are prepared as well. Bring extra clothes if you know that sometimes during an incident you cannot control bodily functions. Let those around you most often know about your risk of seizures.
Control the risks in your home by making sure that furniture has round edges and electronic appliances have an automatic shut-off switch. Try to use general safety guidelines in keeping things with sharp edges to a minimum or put away from easy reach.
We cannot control our environments at all times, so let your love ones know what they can do to help when seizure occurs. In the event that you may be alone, carry some sort of documentation. It should list important information such as an emergency contact and what a stranger could do to help in a public setting. It can be useful to include your name in a situation where you may not be able to talk.
