German Measles (Rubella)

Complications could include:

  • Arthritis is inflammation of the joints (where bones meet) in one or more areas of the body. This condition is most commonly seen in adults, but it can also develop in children and teens.
  • Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain tissue usually caused by viral infection. Mild symptoms include fever, headache, and vomiting. Seizure, unconsciousness, and high fever are severe signs.
  • A middle ear infection (otitis media) occurs when the area behind the eardrum becomes inflamed and fluid filled as a result of an infection or allergies. The condition is most common in children. It can cause pain, fever, balance loss, and more.
