Medical Specialist: Neuropathology

Neuropathology is a subspecialty of Pathology. A pathologist is a doctor who has completed medical school and two to three years of residency training in Pathology. Pathologists diagnose diseases based on examination of body tissues, fluids and laboratory studies. A neuropathologist completes an additional two years of training in a neuropathology fellowship and is an expert in the diagnosis of diseases of the nervous system, including:

  • Traumatic
  • Developmental
  • Neoplastic
  • Infectious
  • Toxic
  • Metabolic
  • Degenerative
  • Ischemic
  • Inflammatory diseases of the nervous system.
