Tonsillitis complications

Complications could include:

  • Peritonsillar abscess is a common bacterial infection that usually results from untreated strep throat or tonsillitis. Swollen glands in the throat and jaw, as well as a sore throat, can be signs of this condition.
  • An airway obstruction is a blockage in the airway. It may partially or totally prevent air from getting into your lungs. Some airway obstructions are life-threatening emergencies. They require immediate medical attention to prevent death.
