Sixth Nerve Palsy

Causes could include:

  • A lumbar puncture is a medical procedure usually performed to obtain a sample of cerebrospinal fluid. The procedure is sometimes referred to as a spinal tap.
  • Meningitis is an inflammation of the membrane that covers the brain and spinal cord. It may cause headache and fever in teens and adults, irritability in babies, and trouble breathing in young children.
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. MS can cause varying symptoms that appear with a wide range of severity, from mild discomfort to complete disability.
  • Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a way of looking for conditions that affect your brain and spine. It's a series of lab tests performed on a sample of CSF.
  • Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is a rise in pressure around your brain. It may be due to an increase in the amount of fluid surrounding your brain.
  • A brain tumor is a collection or mass of abnormal cells in your brain. A brain tumor can be cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign).
