Complications could include:

  • Impetigo is a highly contagious bacterial skin condition that usually occurs on the face, neck, and hands of young children. It may cause a number of skin symptoms that usually go away within one to two weeks.
  • Cellulitis is a common, often painful skin infection that first appears as a red, swollen area that feels hot and tender to the touch. If left untreated, it can become life-threatening.
